How the Kangaroo Got Its Pouch

How the Kangaroo Got Its Pouch is an Aboriginal Australian dreamtime story.  There are many such stories which are usually moralistic tales.  In this story the mother kangaroo is looking after her young baby, called Joey, and stops to help an old wombat.  The wombat is revealed to by the great creator spirit on a quest to find the most worthy creatures and reward them.  The wombat rewards mother kangaroo with a pouch to help her keep Joey safe.

I created this video six years ago to help me teach the didgeridoo.  It was one of my first experiments with animation and is only in 360p in 4:3 format.  It was the first, and remains the most popular video on my Cloudskipper Dreaming YouTube Channel. Last year I remixed the video in HD with a new, funky, soundtrack and some stop motion animation.
